It’s Not Graffiti, It’s Art

"I've always had an interest for art and artistic creativity. It wasn't until high school that I got into graffiti art. That was my way of expressing myself and getting rid of all the frustrations and emotions in the house." - Jessie

Jessie creates life-affirming art that inspires others and motivates him to move beyond his traumatic childhood memories. Jessie grew up in the Los Angeles foster care system from the age of 3 to 18. Walking away from bad influences in high school, he turned to drawing, painting and eventually art to express himself. Now, 28, and working for the Department of Child and Family Services Los Angeles County, Jessie opens up about his life and foster care experience through art.
