When Jaime entered the foster system at 16, the transition was difficult. He found his joy in sewing and crafting, a career that he began pursuing full time after his college graduation. In this revealing piece, Jaime talks about the difficulties of adjusting to adulthood after foster care. Permanent housing, viable employment and income do not come easy, even with college. After many false starts, Jaime’s determination to work in his field of choice pays off. His film is one of the films in the Youth Voices Video Project, a collection of foster youth-produced films from PBS SoCal’s To Foster Change.
Jaime is 23 and a former foster youth.
